Two evenings per week, Mondays & Wednsdays, 6pm - 9pm for 7 months from February 2018

Course Fee: €3800*

This excellent course price includes: Hairdressing Training, Course Book & Notes, Hairdressing Kit, and access to student log in area with learning aids & support.

You will gain experience on real clients in our Student Salon, So Studio, throughout your training. Treatments are available at reduced prices for your clients. On occassion you will have to provide models where clients are not available.

Information:

Hairdressing is one of the fastest growing industries at the moment; whether you want to work in a Salon, Cruise ships, TV sets , Magazine shoot’s or go Mobile you need to have the right skill set. With this fully recognised international VTCT qualification you will be starting you new career the right way. If you are interested in hairdressing as a career then this course is excellent for you!  This course will give you a good introduction to the skills needed to work as a stylist and there is an excellent progression route to follow should you wish to continue you career in hairdressing.

Qualification structure:                  

Shampoo & condition the hair & scalp

  • Identify the condition of the hair and scalp & select suitable products
  • Use and adapt massage techniques to meet the needs of the client

Cut women's hair:

  • Identifying the influencing factors & use cutting technique's to achieve the desired look
  • Crosscheck the haircut to ensure even balance and weight distribution
  • Develop your skills to create a variety of basic looks for women
  • Club cutting, freehand and scissor-over-comb techniques
  • Produce one length hair cuts (above and below shoulder length), uniform layers, short and long graduation hair cuts
  • Work on both curly and straight hair

The art of dressing hair:

  • Develop the creative skill of styling, dressing and finishing hair
  • Select and use styling products, tools and equipment to achieve the desired look
  • Dress hair to the satisfaction of the client
  • Apply finishing products to maintain the Style
  • Blow dry, set, put up hair and finish client's hair using heated styling equipment

Colour & Lighten Hair:

  • Develop skills to change hair colour
  • Use semi-permanent, quasi-permanent, permanent and lightening products
  • Use a variety of colouring techniques: full head; re-growth; highlighting; low-lighting
  • Mix and apply the colour using neat sections & correct techniques
  • Ensure desired look is achieved and customer satisfaction

Salon Reception Duties:

  • Create a positive image of yourself and the salon whilst working on the reception desk.
  • Communicate and behave in a professional manner
  • How to represent the business in a professional manner
  • Make and record appointments for clients
  • Keep reception area clean & tidy

Follow health & safety practises in the salon:

  • Maintain health, safety and security practices in the workplace
  • Follow emergency procedures in the workplace

Working in the hair industry:

  • Key characteristics of how the hair industry works
  • Standard working practices & legislation in the hair industry
  • The services, roles & responsibilities of staff & career opportunities

Client consultation for hair services:

  • How to provide effective consultation and advisory service for clients
  • The characteristics of hair
  • How to identify the capability of client's hair
  • Make recommendations based on consultation & influencing factors
